REORDERING AMERICAN LOGIC THE RIGHT-WING WAY

BY: Dr. J. Alva Scruggs

May 3, 2003

Today we easily honestly say that might make right? No! The arbitrary use of the overwhelming power of the United States military against anyone who dares to disagree or fails to be subservient to the Bush proves that statement, for obviously, might does make right in the eyes of ignorant Americans and some of its allies. So let's be honest, even our books and the sermons are presently being changed reflect the new world order according to Bush and the far right-wing. Tell your children that when you have the power, might makes right. That is the learned from the neo conservative right wing fascist government of the United States of America, so it must be true.

In America we are telling little Johnny and Susie that crime does pay, and cheaters do prosper, if you have the right connections. It is all right to lie, be greedy, cheat, and manipulate, if it serves to obtain your goals. The ends do justify the means, so don't be concerned with what you have to do to get there, do anything and everything you can think of to grab your piece of the pie. Obviously, the Bush regime of corporate criminals have profited immensely from their illicit activities and plan to continue to do so as they expand their illegal forays into yet to be determined nations. So little ones can lie to your heart's content, cheat on all those exams, but make sure to get what you're after. It's the end that counts, not how you got there. Just emulate your government.

AWE, SHUCKS WHO IS STILL THE GREATEST

DR. J. ALVA SCRUGGS

May 3, 2003

A strange thought about the President's "War against Weapons of Mass Destruction" occurred to me while watching a NBA game. The all white male commentator team calling the game were providing the highly intense, thoughtful, in-indept analysis of the ongoing action. They seem to be overly analytical on every play and action in the game, from the way each player took a shot -- to the rational for taking the shot -- to the strategy of the coach for approving the shot. They seem to be struggling to demonstrate the super intellect used in the plan behind the game. A look, at the teams further showed that all the players on the first team of both clubs were Black males. It seems that the white male was trying to over come the fact That they were under represented on the court.

Yes, football, basket ball, track and field, etc. are the Black Male arenas of achievement as they are disproportionaly out performing white males. But in the business and other institutional leadership positions they have made somewhat smaller advances. They have not become dominant as they are in sports. Contrastingly, where performances is most times not so "cut and dry" white males still hole the "top dog" positions. Through sometimes deviously rigging the standards of performance by whites, males white males are the super performers.

Yes , the dominance in sports, and their gains in other institutions of work and white male position in the home eroded, the white male though Bush, the mental midget need to know they were still good at something. That something was "war" as the world has never seen before. Through the game of all out war the white male can demonstrate lightning, and thunder or "Shock and Awe." The dust from Humbees, tanks, Land attack vehicles carrying surface to surface missals, fire, fog, smoke, sand blood, death. This is where Iraq came in as a good deal for the over kill moved to the arena, by the right-wing that is. Even the least talented white male, bozo, grunt and Barney Fife of the military can be made a winner and hero in the dominance sport of war. The only thing that was needed was to justly this major game with a good and honorable cause. Ah yes,, an action against the "Axis of Evil" which posses "Weapons of Mass Destruction" aimed at us, the :""Axis of Good" and "God's Chosen People.

It happened in a poof of smoke and a flash of fire from the jet plane like a "Popping-Jay" G. W. came out of a Navy jet as if from the hat of the magic man. After landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Getting off the jet holding a “heads-up-viewer” helmet to his six shooter shown-down-attack-craft, G. W. then strutted over to the nearest military person on the deck "popping" a "look-at-me-I-am-the-war-winning-white-male-commander-and-thief" of the greatest, most powerful, military white ,male dominated group in the history of the world, or maybe even the universe, or even the havens it self!!! A terrific political staging and the republican party did not have to spend one red penny for this multi million dollar political show!!

For the Black population these right-winger neo facist have shown them the standards for Black success. First, money can and should be able to buy anything and any person. A "Tom" is not a repugnant individual. He is a successful Black citizen worthy of the highest respect and rewards. There is no reward if virtue, solace, morality, and integrity. The only good Nigger is a "Body Guard" for his oppressor and an active member of thier Amen conner. Be an athlete, a rapper, a Bootylicious mama, a performer for the amusement of the master. Be a good Nigger and when you get bigger and more educated, be a bigger more educated PhD. nigger for the master!!

Nothing could be more evil than the Bush regime and the "embedded media" enables, who mute out death and destruction in accordance with their hegemonic desires. . Life is cheap, especially when it belongs to someone of color it anyway you wish, it's racism, pure and simple. It's genocide, survival of the richest not the fittest. So my children, you can see that handing out death to those who oppose your desires is perfectly acceptable.-Our government says so and your "Commander-and-Thief" practices it routinely with the blessing of Congress and the majority of the brain washed American people. The media. say it is the way to go!

The War Seizes the Internet

No matter whether we wish or not, but the world changed on March 20, and the change is irretrievable. It was clear long before the very first attack at Iraq that this war would go far beyond the limits of a local war in any case. And the beginning of the US aggression in Iraq separated once and for all leftists and rightists, globalists and anti-globalists, doves and hawks; they are now on different sides of the barricade.  Click to continue article

WHAT IF - -IRAQ ATTACK "WAG THE DOG" WAR THIRD ACT;  APRIL 1 , 2003 A SIMILE

By Dr. James A. Scruggs

America and Iraq threw their first attacks blows on April 1, 2002, the day for fools. The first activity was a massive bombing attack by the US and the "axis of good" dropping 3000 daisy cutter 20,000 pound bombs. On the next exchange the Iraqis fired twenty one Scud missiles against which the US launched 84 Patriot missiles interceptors. Twenty five percent of the Scuds landed in the general vicinity of American and "axis of good" troops and a few on  Israeli territory.
The US declared that these missiles each contained "a" single spore of Anthrax   making them "weapons of mass destruction." Suddenly there was what seemed a sand  storm on all sides of Baghdad. No, it was sand kicked up  by "axis of good" troops as they raced away from the vicinity of Baghdad, Iraq!

REALITY 2003 TRUTH ABOUT AUTOMOBILE ENERGY SOURCES AND POLLUTION

Graduates from Morehouse, University of Florida, Yale, University of Mass., Florida Atlantic University, etc. are the blessed people who must add their voice to issues that are regularly being misrepresented and lied about by our fellow American Leaders. YOU CAN BREED A PEOPLE RIGHT!!!

By Dr. James A. Scruggs

It is April 1984 and I find myself in a small school district in Mississippi. I am here to serve as Superintendent of Schools in a school district that has had three superintendents I as many years.

During the desegregation period, Mississippi decided to conform to the separate but unequal laws in school systems by splitting each district into two parts making one district run by a Black person and the other run by a white superintendent. However, the Central School Board held responsibility for both districts, was run by whites, and held power over all the funds. Very clever isn’t it.  Continue here

BLACK MEN "WO OUT" AND "NO MO GOOD!!!"

By Dr. James A. Scruggs

2/2003

I remember but never really understood what Black men and women meant when they said of a old Black man, " He is wo out’" or "He ant’ no mo good!!" My grandfather never really owned any land but he seemed to have an agreement to plant vegetables and keep hogs on many pieces of property around the city of Sheffield, Alabama. He had a mule and wagon with wooden SPOKED wheels and metal rims or bands where the rubber tired should have been. At harvest time he gathered his vegetables and pork in the wagon brought the food to house where the animals killings and vegetable canning went on. Caned corn, beans, tomatoes, okra, etc. and pork smoking and cueing, crackling cooking, soap making from the fat and lie. We were poor but never hungry. Click to finish article

THE ECONO-POLITO-RELIGION-INDUSTRIAL-COMPLEX OR MONEY CAN BUY ANYTHING

Here in 2003 man yet stands on the threshold on a great universal abyss. This is the abyss of ignorance. The lack of information and or knowledge is the giant black void where knowledge of the great natural universe lies. This is the line where the light is the .4 of one percent of the matter in the universe that man has so far had the tools and intellect to organize and predict.
But here stands man steeped in stark fear. He has not considered that his god’s domain is that of the vast natural "order" of  all things. It is so profound that there is no need for him to be preoccupied with the supernatural and the ghosties and goblins created by his mind to fill the vast abyss where his understanding stops. The profoundly ignorant and the mentally challenged will walk in the footsteps of those, who have no will to walk into this abyss to learn that information that will finally bring him face to face with his GOD(s), whoever they may be!! BLACKS ARE MORE VALUABLE WHEN THEY HOLD ON TO INTEGRITY

Dr. By James A. Scruggs

2/2003

We all pride ourselves on having very few, but very good reliable people we call real friends. The conventional thought is that good friends are few and hard to find. In hard times those friends, who have integrity, are reliable, have values not for sale etc. will still be your friends. I for one have a few friends like this and do not plan to take on any more until some one of these dies. For Blacks this is very important because we find ourselves regularly in situations in which friends are needed as a matter of life and death. Our friends and leaders must have the characteristic of great integrity. It is paramount to their mass responsibility.  click to finish article

ITS NOT BLAIR THAT IS THE PROBLEM IT IS THE GENERAL STATE OF INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM!!

By: Dr. J. Alva Scruggs

Today’s sad state of the press and journalism, especially investigative journalism has finally become a subject of writers for the corporate media. The two resent (May 2003) articles by Kathleen Parker, Orlando Sentinel and Brother Leonard Pits Miami Herald both took on the subject but they both miss the whole point by focusing on the Black writer Blair and how he may have come to be at The New York Times!

Parker states in part, “As newspaper editors convened emergency denial-control meetings and minority journalists circled their wagons, New York Times Executive Editor Howell Raines went ahead and admitted what was obvious to anyone without a blankie over his head: Of course it's (the hiring and treatment of Blaire) about race.” Where Pitts says, “So apparently, Jayson Blair's biggest crime is not that he cheated and misled. It's that he cheated and misled while black.”

These articles addressing a questionable Black male reporter working for the New York Times reporter Jayson Blair, who is alleged to have deliberately written miss leading stories laden with lies and deception. His articles were not said to be badly written, just questionable in truth and accuracy. But instead of discussing the over-all declined state of the general press and the legitimate media’s daily representations (as of May 21, 2003 this article) of spin, lies, and screwed stories that have undermine the very base of historical records today, they limited their monologue to a restricted spectrum as if Brother Blair was a general representation of Blacks in the world of superior white colleagues. Blaire is portrayed as a unique rotten apple, without saying that the whole barrel of white corporate journalism apples were themselves rotten in their reporting. Richard Hylton, wrote in part (Berkeley Daily Planet
May 21, 2003)
,
I've watched with disbelief as this scandal has unfolded and been used by racist commentators as a broad indictment of blacks in journalism. Supposedly, black journalists are pulling down the high standards white journalists have built up. I don't know which is more absurd. . . .”

As things are going there will never be another Edward R. Murray‘s, “White Paper,” or a John Steinbeck‘s, “Grapes of Wrath,” Lucius Gantt‘s, “I Talked About The Beast,” to set the public to thinking about the truth of the society they have wroth. Blair gave them what they showed him they were doing themselves and wanted! Mimicking his master is what a “Tom” does best.

 ''American journalism: Objectivity and reverence''

BY: Matthew Riemer

Date: Thursday, June 26, 2003 @ 00:05:28 CDTT

YellowTimes.org Columnist (United States) (YellowTimes.org) –

A June 6th conversation on the National Public Radio news show On the Media between host Brooke Gladstone and guests Bill Falk and Jeremy O'Grady, executive editors of the American and British editions of The Week, highlighted important differences between American and British journalism, and, more importantly, the sad state of affairs currently being experienced by the American version of the discipline. Jeremy O'Grady, representing Britain's edition of The Week, remarked that American journalists display a reverence for the government and are often afraid to question the official line, while British journalists are more skeptical and irreverent. As an instructive case in point, O'Grady pointed to a piece by New York Times columnist Judith Miller that was essentially sanctioned by the Pentagon: a flimsy article, based entirely on anonymous sources and Pentagon hearsay, seemingly printed to keep the hopes alive of those who believe that huge stores of WMD are still going to be unearthed in Iraq and to buoy artificially the validity of the Bush administration's rhetoric. To O'Grady, such a story reeked of professional coziness the likes of which a Brit would never endure.

American journalism also seems to believe in a theoretical yet attainable state of objectivity and strictly segregated formats governing the presentation of opinion and fact -- that, in a way, journalism is more of a science which can be practiced very exactly, not a profession of inherent bias. The Brit is less afraid of opinion and more naturally embraces slant and agendas as part and parcel of the journalistic, historical process surrounding the recounting of events.

Bill Falk observed: "Here when you enter into the New York Times or the Washington Post, it's entering into a cathedral. Journalists -- particularly the commentators and the named journalists are the high priests of the profession, and we worship the truth, and there's this sense that in our country the truth is a quantifiable, objective deity that you can put borders around and say 'well, this is the truth and that's opinion.'"

On the Role of a Journalist In a Democracy

BY: Bill Moyers, NOW

May 25, 2003

From your letters I know some of you are curious as to why journalists

like me keep opening the Pandora's box of democracy; why we come round and

round to what ails America -- the bribing of Congress, the desecration of

the environment, corporate tax havens, secrecy, fraud on Wall Street, the

arrogance of ideology, the pretensions of power. Do we delight in the dark

side of human experience, you ask? Do we never see good in the world? Or

was Nietzsche right: that the Christian resolution to find the world ugly

and bad has made the world ugly and bad?

I can only speak for myself, of course. And I confess to thinking of

journalism as the social equivalent to a medical diagnosis. My doctor owes

me candor; I pay him for it. Candor could save my life.

I like to think journalists are paid for candor, too; society needs to

know what could kill us, whether it's too many lies or too much pollution.

Napoleon left instructions that he was not to be awakened if the news from

the front were good; with good news, he told his secretary, there is no

hurry. But if the news were bad, he said, "Rouse me instantly, for then

there is not a moment to be lost." Think of journalism as a kind of early

warning system -- iceberg spotting in the choppy waters of democracy.

 Hope For What Might Be

BY: Lewis H. Lapham :  (editor of Harper's Magazine and author of  heater of War, Money and Class in America, Imperial  Masquerade, The Wish for Kings, Hotel America and Waiting for
the Barbarians.

Editor's Note: This commentary is excerpted from the commencement

address delivered on May 11, 2003 at St. John's College.

Most of the political arguments going forward in the world at the
present moment are the same ones that enlivened the scaffolds of
Renaissance Italy annals of Imperial Rome -- the old and bitter
quarrel between time past and time future, between the inertia of
things as they are and the energy inherent in the hope of things as
they might become.
The former and more portly faction invariably commands the popular
majority. It is the party of military parades and Late Night with
David Letterman, of Time magazine, Steven Spielberg movies, and the
oil company lobbyists working the halls of Congress.

All of you belong, by definition if not by choice, to the
party of things-as-they-might-become.

All of you belong, by definition if not by choice, to the party of
things-as-they-might-become. Don't underestimate the guile of your
enemies. The servants of the status quo like to say that nothing is
seriously amiss, that this is the best of all possible worlds, that
the wisdom in office, whether at the White House or on the set of
Nightline, brooks neither impertinence nor contradiction.
The authorities rest the case for their assurance on two lines of
false reasoning. First, that the future is so dangerous that only
football captains need apply, that everything is very difficult,
very complicated and very far beyond the grasp of mere mortals who
never have sailed up the Nile with Henry Kissinger. Second, that
because this is the best of all possible worlds, nothing important
remains to be said or discovered. The media have a hand in both of
these deceptions, and I speak from some experience when I say that
the fear of the future sells newspapers and bids up the market for
cheap miracles and expensive cosmetics.

Bush Courts Big Donors in Presidential

By Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, May 22, 2003; Page A11

President Bush embarked last night on a packed schedule of fundraising events
designed to showcase him as commander in chief even as he builds a
record-breaking financial advantage over his future Democratic opponent.
Bush's goal is to collect about twice as much as he did for his last race.
Campaign sources said his fundraising strategy is built for speed so he can
finish most of the events and return to full-time governing just as the
Democratic nominating contest is peaking.
Bush will headline $2,000-a-ticket receptions next month in New York,
Washington, Miami and Tampa, and White House officials said they expect that
pace to continue through the summer and into the fall.

New York-based Russ Baker is an award-winning journalist who

Recently, The New York Times got a deserved spanking for running a seemingly unjustified, strangely sourced article justifying the administration’s retreat from its claims that Iraq possessed large stores of frightening offensive weapons. But the spanking came and
went, and the media community missed a chance for some healthy self-reflection about larger institutional failings in a success-obsessed, competitive business.
First, the background. On April 21, the Times published a front-page
article from Judith Miller, the paper’s resident expert on chemical and biological weapons. In it, she passed on supposed claims from a mysterious source that the only reason coalition forces had failed to find chemical weapons was because they either were recently destroyed or existed strictly as precursors that also have civilian purposes. But she never met, spoke with, or verified the identity of the "source."

Military waste under fire / $1 trillion missing -- Bush plan targets Pentagon accounting

Tom Abate, Chronicle Staff Writer
Sunday, May 18, 2003

The Department of Defense, already infamous for spending $640 for a toilet
seat, once again finds itself under intense scrutiny, only this time because
it couldn't account for more than a trillion dollars in financial
transactions, not to mention dozens of tanks, missiles and planes.
The Pentagon's unenviable reputation for waste will top the congressional
agenda this week, when the House and Senate are expected to begin floor debate
on a Bush administration proposal to make sweeping changes in how the Pentagon
spends money, manages contracts and treats civilian employees.
The Bush proposal, called the Defense Transformation for the 21st Century Act,
arrives at a time when the nonpartisan General Accounting Office has raised
the volume of its perennial complaints about the financial woes at Defense,
which recently failed its seventh audit in as many years.

      It's the Ideology, Stupid

If you are a regular reader of progressive media outlets like this one, you cannot have escaped the prevailing opinion that the Bush
administration's latest round of massive tax cuts are folly. But is not just the left which finds them bizarre; almost no reputable economist
supports this plan. Joseph Stiglitz, former chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, described the tax cuts as leading to "reductions in job growth relative to
what they otherwise would be." Speaking to Congress, Federal Reserve Board Chair Alan Greenspan opined that unless there are comparable reductions in
Federal spending, the tax cuts will only add to the deficit, which would promote higher interest rates and depress the economy. Alternet
contributors David Martin, Chris Hartman and Ben Robinson commented that "the only thing this plan 'stimulates' is more economic inequality in the
United States." Even Bush appointee Douglas Holtz-Eakin, head of the Congressional Budget Office, concluded that the proposed tax cuts "might
have either a positive or a negative effect on the economy, but that in either case the effect would be modest."
