ITS NOT BLAIR THAT IS THE PROBLEM IT IS THE GENERAL STATE OF INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM!!

Today’s sad state of the press and journalism, especially investigative journalism has finally become a subject of writers for the corporate media. The two resent (May 2003) articles by Kathleen Parker, Orlando Sentinel and Brother Leonard Pits Miami Herald both took on the subject but they both miss the whole point by focusing on the Black writer Blair and how he may have come to be at The New York Times!

Parker states in part, “As newspaper editors convened emergency denial-control meetings and minority journalists circled their wagons, New York Times Executive Editor Howell Raines went ahead and admitted what was obvious to anyone without a blankie over his head: Of course it's (the hiring and treatment of Blaire) about race.” Where Pitts says, “So apparently, Jayson Blair's biggest crime is not that he cheated and misled. It's that he cheated and misled while black.”

These articles addressing a questionable Black male reporter working for the New York Times reporter Jayson Blair, who is alleged to have deliberately written miss leading stories laden with lies and deception. His articles were not said to be badly written, just questionable in truth and accuracy. But instead of discussing the over-all declined state of the general press and the legitimate media’s daily representations (as of May 21, 2003 this article) of spin, lies, and screwed stories that have undermine the very base of historical records today, they limited their monologue to a restricted spectrum as if Brother Blair was a general representation of Blacks in the world of superior white colleagues. Blaire is portrayed as a unique rotten apple, without saying that the whole barrel of white corporate journalism apples were themselves rotten in their reporting. I've watched with disbelief as this scandal has unfolded and been used by racist commentators as a broad indictment of blacks in journalism. Supposedly, black journalists are pulling down the high standards white journalists have built up. I don't know which is more absurd. . . .”

As things are going there will never be another Edward R. Murray‘s, “White Paper,” or a John Steinbeck‘s, “Grapes of Wrath,” Lucius Gantt‘s, “I Talked About The Beast,” to set the public to thinking about the truth of the society they have wroth. Blair gave them what they showed him they were doing themselves and wanted! Mimicking his master is what a “Tom” does best.

. The real sad fact is that today journalism in general has come to a state of disrepair under penned by decadence that denies any man or woman to commit themselves to any high standard of investigative journalism. The “Body” Independent Investigative Journalism its self is under attack by corporate media Bottom Line “Weapons of Mass Independent Journalism Destruction.“ How can we talk about Blair’s individual terrible acts without talking about the general miss reporting of such un reported investigative stories as, “The stealing of Election 2000 by the Republicans” or “The fighting of the Iraq war as if it was a war to stop their use of “Weapons of Mass Destruction,” or “the providing of contracts by Vice President Cheney to his buddies on sole-source contracts on a no-competition basis to rebuild Iraq, the very country The Bush Chaney administration took America’s war and just finished bombing the hell out of it (with America’s Weapons of Mass Destruction) under the safe pretense of fighting the “Axis of Evil,” or what about the criminal CEOs’ of Enron, WorldCom, etc., or how does the press allow the TV ads in Florida to say that Jeb Bush is the greatest environmental leader. who is saving the Everglades followed by with the very, very small print saying that this ad is sponsored by the Sugar coalition a coalition which is at this very time polluting this World Wonder. The Times found fraud, plagiarism and inaccuracies in 36 of 73 articles examined between October and April. (AS Press, AOL, May 21, 2003) But Media in general with good investigative reporting will find much, much more fraud in the their vital systems of media.

This jumping on Blair was a good start but it seemed that the press in general was deliberately over looked. The article focused on Black’s hiring under “Affirmative Action (AA),” which is another back handed slap at AA!. It seems to me that if the white controlled N. Y. Times with it superior smart CEO’s would have looked for and found the best Black and chose Blair as their answer to the Black diversity problem. But I say to you that they found just what they were looking for, using their standards for a “Good Nigger” They found another Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, Ward, Colin Powell (Truth and Goedart Palm, Uncle Powell's Fairy-Tale, Tue Feb 18 '03 ), Dr. Connerly; a Blacks who would and mimic the white role model of the “Journalist” corporate Media has provided today. He, Blair lied, plagiarized, spun, wrote inside and outside the box with the acceptable skill of any other white journalism today. He was a goodhearted, sorry, weak kneed, lily livered, uncle “Tom” mimic of a the FOX- FNC-type-media-man.

If the New York Times wanted a writer or reporter who would do a good, honest job of writing they would only have to turn to a Lucius Gantt, George Curry, J. , Alva Scruggs, L Miller, Ron Daniels, Williams Reed, Roosevelt Wilson, DeWayne Wickham, William Raspberry to mention a very few. Although a number of Blacks write for the Black press it is not because they chose to restrict themselves but because they seem to believe in the eternal purity of integrity and truth the and corporate media will not take the chance that they may not be inclined to lie and distort to feed their bottom lines.
