At this extremely critical time strong Black change agents are needed we see so many Blacks looking only for personal gain rather than group progress. This is especially dangerous when you look at the republican party, its strength and the anti Black stands it seems to advocate.

The republican party is approximately 63% white male 43% female, 5% Hispanic an less than 3% Black. One of every five republicans are millionaires. Powel has said that this is a party of white males and single minded conservatives around greed, power, and business not public good.. This is the make up of the party in which Blacks are trying to participate.

The year 2000 republican convention held the week of July 31 August 4, 2000 was attended by many Blacks from Florida. The most prominent of this group is the members of The Florida, Texas, Oklahoma Black Republican Councils. What are these Black looking for in this union with the present Republican party?

Governor Jeb Bush has said that he would like to have many more Blacks in the party like Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The Florida Black Republican Committee (FBRPC) Other Black republican who are regularly trotted out for public visibility are such people as Armstrong Williams, who has a magnitude of very small thoughts, Collin Powel, J. C. Watts etc. But more remarkable is the label of "Honorary White Men" given to this group.

I have tried to get an idea of what some of these Black republicans really want. In discussions with some, who I know personally, it is clear that they understand the profile they must have to be "loved" by their potential benefactors. Instead of joining the party to provide another view they have only one objective; "To get something personal" form those they perceive as having money. They are going to this convention with their buckets, briefcases, and ten cups to "pan handle" for position, love, and money. When asked if they intend to bring up such issues as criminal justice, Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), Civil Rights, more sensitive supreme court judges, etc., they will tell you quickly let you know that these issues are too counter productive and will only close the doors to the people who have money. In fact a brother told me that all he wants is to get to be an "insider" for business sake. In other words he does not see the need to create an over all fairer competition he wants to join the "insiders" who regularly conduct the business of exclusion.

But it seems that the republicans have determined that there is a simple way to hold Blacks without moving to allow them to be money makers. They have seen that all they have to do is say that so many black have been awarded contracts even if it is not true. This gives black "hope" a commodity to which they are historically accustomed, allow this hope to serve as a crack in the door of the inner room. Blacks will then stand outside "hoping" that they will be let in as one of the "selected" few.

They are willing to sell Blacks down the river in packs (PACs'), in congregations in droves, in groups, in mass. Thus, comes the FBRC election 2002 Florida 2002.

These Blacks are truly not Black leaders. They are not even spokespersons. There is nothing really wrong with being a "business person of honor"( as opposed to the typical ugly American) in the USA But there is something wrong when this personal ambition is a deliberate and devastating stumbling block to the civil rights of a group of their own people. The white power structure knows very well the consequences of the activities of these Black people. They use these Blacks, who cooperate willingly, brilliantly to hold the status quo by trotting them out as leaders and spokespersons at every turn. It is a confusing activity. Blacks in general are looking for answers to their problem and when these intelligent looking brothers and sisters are seen throwing words and poison against the ears of the listening public it is not uncommon that this rhetoric is believed. These Blacks are not appear as bad people by the way they participate in the community. They are conspicuous givers at church. They attend the funerals of the congregation; they are always there when money is given to scholarships and honors to achievers. They tell jokes and smile at everyone one in their turn. They are the smiling faces that the song warn us "tell lies!!!" They have a scheme all the time and will take the money of those Blacks, who can hardly make their living expenses, for personal show and gain. They are con-people; they CONfuse, and CONfound. They are Con Artists.,

The greatest tragedy is that these Blacks, some of them at least, are giants, who are standing in the ditches prepared by society. They are allowing these intellectual, moral pigmies, who only talent is telling magnificent lies over and over again. to stand on their shoulders
